A long-awaited review by consultant paediatrician Hilary Cass into the NHS’s gender services for children calls for a dramatic shift in the type of treatment offered to children and young people with gender dysphoria.
The report proposes that instead of being offered mainly medical treatment, young people referred to NHS gender services should “receive a holistic assessment of their needs to inform an individualised care plan”, meaning that questions of gender identity should be treated alongside other possible mental health concerns.
It found that a medical pathway, such as puberty blockers, would not necessarily be the best option for children with gender dysphoria, and should not be provided “without also addressing wider mental health and/or psychosocially challenging problems”. The review suggests this “should include screening for neurodevelopmental conditions, including autism spectrum disorder, and a mental health assessment”.

Javid laid the statutory instrument to *enable* disclosure, but it seems clear that the ability to *enforce* it simply was not available.
(I am not of course disagreeing with your "unethical" conclusion!)

Then they should be prosecuted. Utterly sick and tired of unionised environments like hospitals, Schools and civil servants ignoring the law.
The refusal of existing NHS gender clinics to participate in the provision of evidence to this report that would help better understand a vulnerable cohort of kids is an absolute scandal. The heads of those services should be hauled into an inquiry to account for this (as well as many other things).
I'm still trying to recover from the shocking news that chemically casterating and mutilating innocent children is bad for them. It made we shoot out of my seat in sheer surprise.

Wow. If there was any clearer way to show that they don’t actually care if prescribing off label drugs to kids actually works or if causes any long term ill effects, I’m struggling to think of one.
These people need to be held accountable.

I think the news may provoke the way people act sometimes, very defensive. But I rather be informed than not be informed.
