I would be willing to give up my belongings, but I would not find motivation to do so from an idea that doing such would help further the community. I view personal belongings as the divvying up of our dominion over the earth. It simplifies what each person must account for. Even though I would want to give up my belongings to help people, one must understand that not everyone deals with items and equipment as competently as others. I find it in all our interests to be both generous and instructive, while doing one's part to try to steward the earth we reside on.

An equal standard of living is not what you have as personal belongings, it is about rights not objects.
