If two people commit the same crime, what justification is there for one to be tried, and not the other? It simply doesn't make sense to grant immunity, simply because one is a police officer.
@9GT2VLC7mos7MO
Police often use their Qualified Immunity in abuses to get away with crimes others would be punished for. They should be held to a higher standard.

There have been multiple occasions where police have murdered innocent colored people because they assume they're dangerous.

the rules/laws are enforced by the police, it defeats the systems purpose if they are not held accountable
As a police officer, it is your duty to protect your nation and the people in it, it should not be right to remain an officer or keep your rank after assaulting, murdering, or degrading civil rights from the people you are sworn to protect.

There is a myriad cases where people's property was destroyed, where they were sent to prison, where they lost money - and all because the officers were protected under qualified immunity. Ito only makes sense to abolish it.
@9M8FZT43wks3W
Without qualified immunity for police they will worry about consequences for their actions and therefore complete and look at their job more carefully instead of being able to do whatever they want whenever they want with no worry for prosecution.

@9FFTBTD8mos8MO
What if all the cops vouching are corrupted by either money, power, or simply their beliefs? Then the qualified immunity system would not be serving its purpose of a fair peer review.
@9LZ6TR64wks4W
the police are normal citizens they shouldn't give them any immunity because they are normal people no need to give them a power trip.
@9FLNWQMLibertarian8mos8MO
like I said, what if the citizen has a medical condition. And what if a officer only decided to become an officer because they want to feel strong and in control. i think there should be more things that go into account when it comes to police officers.

22% of police are involved in domestic violence in their home, a dramatic difference from a baseline of 16%.

If a police were to do something wrong, they should be punished for it, we're supposed to be able to trust them.

Often times, local administration will punish police who have violated someone's civil rights, but often times it goes ignored and there is no remedy with qualified immunity. This precept was never passed by congress. It is a judicial precedent that has grown wildly out of control.
Police officers have shown unethical forms of regulation. Wearing a badge shouldn't grant you immunity for wrong doings, that would be hypocritical.
@9F9RSL79mos9MO
The police should be able to have immunity, due to the threatening dangers and challenges that come with there job

The George Floyd was killed because the police were not following proper procedures. They neglected his inalienable rights such as life. According to the public policy institute of California they are high deaths in custody, use of force, and fatal encounters from police misconduct.

It is not fair for one person to get away with more just because of their career while someone in a different career gets away with less.
